The Residency Program in Internal Medicine at Lutheran Medical Center has everything a strong candidate is looking for in a training program – an innovative teaching program with a large, well-trained, dynamic faculty committed to housestaff education, a diverse patient population with a vast array of disease processes, and a friendly, collegial atmosphere.  The academic environment is also enhanced by a variety of subspecialty fellowships. We have joint fellowships in Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine (in partnership with SUNY/Downstate), Gastroenterology (in partnership with the Brooklyn Hospital Center), and Infectious Diseases (in partnership with Maimonides Medical Center).The medical students at Lutheran add to the educational environment and foster scholarship and research.

Program Director's Letter

The Internal Medicine Residency Program of Lutheran Medical Center is committed to training residents who are determined to be great internists. True to this mission, all of the positions are categorical. Graduates of our program are confident managing patients of diverse cultures with illness ranging from acute to chronic disease and preventative care in the healthy patient to palliative care at the end of life. Residents will learn to practice safe, effective and efficient care across the spectrum of disease.
